A talisman can be any kind of object, a statue, a book, a ring, a strip of metal. Some objects, such as gemstones, have traditionally been viewed as magical by nature. But throughout history most talismans have been purposefully endowed with their potency through rituals intended to harness the forces of nature or the power of gods. Many were inscribed with magic words, the names or images of deities, or brief charms. Talismans were very much in demand in the ancient world. Archaeologists have discovered papyrus talisman from ancient Egypt, as well as hundreds of stone and metal talismans throughout the Mediterranean region. Especially popular for curing illness, they also were used to attract love, improve memory. In medieval times, there was a talisman for just about any purpose you could think of. Possessing a sprig of the herb heliotrope bundled with a wolf’s tooth and wrapped in laurel leaves would stop people from gossiping about you. Because the heavenly bodies were thought to hold sway over earthly life, many talismans were designed to capture the influence of a particular planet. The Sorcerer’s Stone , which was believed to offer eternal life as well as endless wealth, was the most desirable talisman of all.

Very Pretty talisman! but all with which s' addresses as Ca represents l' old of the kings or l' Egypt or the incas but Ca does not represent the Amerindians because Ca does not go for the same things! Talisman 787201

Thank you. I don't know. But do you mean that you don't believe in the power of talismans? It was very great the belief in the power of talismans in fourteenth century that rules for dueling were revised to require that each participant swear that he was not carrying a magic ring, stone, or other talisman that would give him an unfair advantage. I am sorry Michaela c' is you who has badly included/understood what j' wanted to say! touts the talismans which you evoke are very beautiful and represent in my eyes the times of midiévales the kings, and l' time of l' Egypt and l' time of the incas with full d' emeralds Ca represented beaucoups for them!

But for us the Amerindians " the talismans " the same thing only they do not represent! us c' is rather as fetishes which protect us! j' what you hope for includes/understands me? Talisman 633609
