A Medieval Adventure
My adventure begins in the sixteenth century that is in medieval.
The outside world was a dangerous place in those days. Bandits and vagabonds roamed around the country , and punishment was very harsh. The knights were faithful protectors of all peoples .
People often held midnight feasts. The nobles used decorated platters for secret feasts.
These were used for serving sticky sweets on. Once the feast was finished, they turned the platters over and read the verse written on the other side( ex.” Oh lovely sweet how divine you are, your fragrance greets from near and far”). Medieval nobles used goblets for drinking wine at banquets.
Diamonds, sapphires, rubies , and pearls were fashionable jewels in medieval times.
They were keep in an ornate box and the box was hidden in one of many secret wall panels. The nobility wore clothes made from silk, velvet they usually loved to wear clothes of rich red velvet. The peasants wore clothes made of heavy wool and cotton.
Some peoples kept a Diary and this is a what was written on Secret Diary on that time:
“1538, Now the children have given me a miniature crown to wear.
I feel so regal when I put it on. I have decided we must have a
Celebration. I have sent Sir Guthrie, my loyal knight , to fetch more
Wax to make extra candles and to get some other supplies from the
Kitchen larder.
I am now going to practice a song on the lute for the festivities.”
Peoples made their own candles to fit into small lanterns , and used medieval lute ( gentle sound) that they liked to play.
Also children practices writing with a quill pen and ink. They copied the words from a hornbook. This is what children used to learn to read from. It has a sheet of paper fixed to a piece of wood and is covered in transparent horn for protection.
Long before photographs many people had miniature paintings done of themselves , so future generations would know what they looked like.
