Fairy Dust
It was a windy fall afternoon , as I took a walk in the forest. As I was passing under a oak tree , a shower of acorns fell down on my head. As I looked up, I heard a faint giggle. I was imagining it was a mischievous fairy living high above the oak.
Trees are significant to fairies. They especially prefer Oak, Ash, Apple , Elder, Hawthorn, Holly, Lilac.
Ash trees are believed to provide protection from the more mischievous types of fairies, they cannot use their magic on those standing in the shadow of an ash tree.
The fruit of the apple tree can be used in fairy magic. The apples also make excellent gifts for the fairies.
Fairies believe that elder trees will protect them from any humans who wish them harm. Fairies also make wine from the elderberries.
All thorny trees are favored meeting places for fairies.
Holly berries are a particular favored of the fairies and the gently scent of lilacs will attract fairies to a garden.
It was near to end of my walk, as I was getting closer to my garden, I heard another noise. I ran to see what on earth it could be. There, on the grass, lay a flower. It reminded me so much of a fairy’s bonnet. So delicate and fragile. "How strange,” I thought to myself.
Figuring it was nothing so important to stay rooted to that spot over I quietly went inside to drink my cup of chamomile tea. As I was heading to my seat , I felt something peculiar on my hand. I had forgotten to take my gloves before heading outside, thus they were ice cold because of the chilly weather. I looked at my hand there was a sudden flash of color …then nothing.
Sparkly dust covered my hand from top to bottom. Carefully I gathered all the dust that I could and put it in a small beautiful box of mine.
The box was a gift from my grandmother. These sparkles…. I believe them to be Fairy dust. You cannot imagine how good I feel to finally have something belonging to fairies.
I am not crazy or imagining things! This dust could belong to no earthly creatures , only fairies. I will continue to keep it in my little box safe and treasured for always.
